RISING — TORONTO FASHION WEEK (PRE-SHOW INTERVIEW FORM)

Each feature will be about 1,000 words, written as a prose portrait based on your answers here. The goal is to give readers a clear sense of your perspective, your process, and the ideas behind what you’re about to show — not just surface-level promotion.

Please answer in your own tone and words. You don’t need to sound polished or formal — authenticity is much more powerful. The more specific your responses are, the more context and imagery I’ll have to work with when writing your feature.

1. What does your studio look like right now? Describe the chaos — or control — around you. (Textures, smells, sounds, objects.) What’s alive in your space?

2. When you think of this collection, what’s the first image that flashes? A shape, a scene, a memory, a mistake — the thing that holds it all together.

3. What’s haunting this collection? A question, an obsession, a contradiction that keeps returning.

4. What are you trying to touch with this work that words can’t reach? Is it a feeling, an atmosphere, a violence, a tenderness?

5. Who or what were you in conversation with while creating this? It could be another designer, a film, a ghost, a line from a book — or something entirely mundane.

6. If your collection could speak, what would it whisper? Not a slogan. A secret.

7. What risk are you taking with this show? What feels uncertain, exposed, or new for you this time?

9. What are you dismantling — and what are you protecting? Every collection breaks something and guards something else. Name both

10. What do you want to leave behind after this presentation? A question, a mood, a trace — something that stays.
